tips on painting new weatherboards
I'm certainly no expert however I have had to carry out many repairs on my old 1890's weatherboard house with the original boards on it. I've tried many different fillers and I've found the Poly and Porion ones to work the best. The Newtech epoxy-based one also worked well, but I would only use epoxy for strength as it's too much hassle otherwise.

The painter says it is no longer the 'standard' to fill and paint these, although he wasn't clear why. He seems open to doing it, but haven't really asked the hard question whether he'll charge me more.
